Stone Hill Vineyard was awarded prime honors on the 2021 Missouri Wine Competitors held July 13-15 in Columbia. The Missouri Governor’s Cup and Better of Class dry pink was gained by Stone Hill Vineyard’s 2019 Chambourcin, whereas the vineyard’s 2019 Norton was awarded the C.V. Riley Award for finest Norton.
The C.V. Riley Award acknowledges the perfect Norton produced in Missouri. C.V. Riley, Missouri’s first state-appointed entomologist, is accredited along with his function in saving the French wine business as he found the state’s pest resistant rootstock.
Throughout the Missouri Wine Competitors, eight judges blindly tasted 226 wines throughout the three-day competitors. Judges awarded 40 gold, 90 silver and 57 bronze medals.

o Dry Pink: Stone Hill Vineyard – 2019 Chambourcin;
o Semi-Dry Pink: Stone Hill Vineyard – 2019 Ozark Hellbender;
o Dry Rosé: Stone Hill Vineyard – Dry Rosé;
o Fruit: Adam Puchta Vineyard – Jazz Berry;
o Dessert: Augusta Vineyard – Tremendous Outdated Tawny;
o Late Harvest/Ice Wine: Augusta Vineyard – 2020 Icewine; and
o Distilled: Montelle Vineyard – Napoleon Missouri Brandy.
A label competitors accompanied conventional judging in honor of Missouri’s Bicentennial celebration. This portion of the competitors was designed to acknowledge wineries who’ve stand-out labels contemplating data supplied, design and general bottle look. Ten label winners have been awarded in: Conventional, Up to date, Bicentennial, Collection, Various Packaging and Folks’s Selection.

The successful wines will likely be on show on the 2021 Missouri State Honest from August 12-22 in Sedalia.
